There are 14 categories of minimum standards for rental properties in Victoria. All rental properties must meet the standards for each category. Rental providers (landlords) must make sure a property meets minimum standards on or before the day a renter moves in. Failure to meet the standard can incur fines of up to $57,000 for companies and $11,000 for individuals.
